Office AccessIf you do not have Microsoft Office installed on your computer (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.) and you are not sure how to complete your work - panic not! Through your school account you have access to a range of tools and apps that you can use for FREE! Microsoft 365Firstly, you can use Microsoft 365 which gives you access to Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Simply login as normal to RM Unify with your school username and password and then select the tile called Mail (Office 365) as shown below.
Then this will take you to your school email account. In the top left-hand corner you should see a menu symbol consisting of 9 dots (3x3) - see below.
Click the dots (menu) and your Apps should now appear offering you Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Click the one you want and then just follow the instructions. Files can be saved to your personal school OneDrive and then if you need to send this to your teacher, you can share the file, or compose your email, then instead of attaching a file you can attach a OneDrive file. If you have any difficulties with this, please email [email protected] Google WorkspaceYou also have access to Google's equivalent apps through G Suite. They offer similar apps such as Docs, Slides and Sheets. These apps are particularly useful if your teacher is using Google Classroom to set work. You can create a Doc on Google Classroom and submit it to your teacher through the virtual classroom. They work in much the same way as Office 365 and like Office 365 they get saved to a cloud drive called Google Drive. These files can also be shared with your teacher if your teachers asks for work electronically.
To access your G Suite, go to docs.google.com. It will ask you for your school email/username and password. Just type in your normal school email and user password. You should then get the Google Docs home screen which looks like this:
To switch between the different apps, you can choose the Menu on the top left, or to move to other Google Apps available to you (such as Google Classroom), then again use the 9 dots on the right of the page. Again, any issues with these, please contact Mr D Lomas at [email protected]. Apache OpenOfficeIf you prefer Office the old-fashioned way, but still don't want to pay for it, you can use Apache OpenOffice. This allows you to download the usual Office programs for free and, best of all, they are compatible with Microsoft Office!
Go to the Apache OpenOffice website and follow the instructions to download. If you are using a shared computer or you don't own it, you should get the owner's permission before downloading any new programs. If you have any queries, please contact Mr Dance on [email protected]. I have forgotten my password! For login issues, please email [email protected] or contact the school.
