13/12/2016 0 Comments Last Day of Term arrangementsSchool will finish at 12.40pm on Friday 16th December 2016. The Spring term begins on Tuesday 3rd January 2017 at normal time.
Friday will be our annual Christmas Jumper Day where students can wear their Christmas jumpers to support a national charity. Please bring in £1 donations. If you do not have a Christmas jumper, try and make an ordinary one a little bit festive with a splash of tinsel! There is no need to wear school uniform, providing pupils are wearing a festive jumper. All money raised will be donated to Save the Children. If you have any questions, please speak to Mrs Gibbs. We look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year on 3rd January. Wishing parents, carers, pupils and staff a very Merry Christmas! Macmillan Coffee Morning took place in the Food Technology rooms on Friday 30th September 2016. This was a fundraising event supported by Mrs Katabalwa, Mrs Essery and children of all years who helped supervise the event. There were many cakes that were made throughout the morning and visitors were able to eat these cakes through the day. Pupils did a raffle and they had many prizes and entries throughout the school. They raised a fantastic amount of over £600. There were three slot sessions that lasted an hour long. The Macmillan coffee morning happened all over Britain and the money that was raised will go to research into Cancer. Everybody who went had a fantastic time and really enjoyed themselves. Hopefully next year they can raise even more money.

In June, King Edward VI High School will be launching their very own TV channel. It will be broadcast in school and online through the school website and USTREAM. The channel will host educational videos on topics such as healthy eating, literacy, numeracy, fitness, as well as subject-specific videos and documentaries on Science, English, History, Geography, Citizenship, PSHEE, Sports and PE and more! The channel will also showcase videos from celebrities who have starred in videos targeted at secondary school students. On top of this, The Edwardian team have been busy preparing some of their own material to be broadcast on the channel. KEVI TV will be broadcast around school at break and lunchtimes but will also broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the school website at www.kevi.org.uk, as well as to visitors to the school in the waiting room.
The TV channel has been set up by The Life Channel, a company specialising in TV broadcast for schools, hospitals and businesses. Programmes will be updated regularly and it is hoped the channel will be a point of information and interest for parents and students, any time or day of the week. Organiser, Mr Lomas, said “Though small at first, myself and the students who have put this together hope that over time more of our own content will be broadcast on there to enable students in school to share their work and show what incredible talent we have at this school to parents and visitors.” Mr Christey, who will officially launch the channel on 17th June and broadcast a short welcome, said he hoped “KEVI TV would be another way for the school to engage with parents and the community and allow students who have an interest in a career in the media to explore their hidden talents.” The channel launches on Friday 17th June at 8.30am and can be watched online on the school website where you can also see the latest news and events from the school. |
