Mr Christey has praised pupils for their performance in the national Young Enterprise competition. Team Orbit from King Edward VI High School achieved third place and also won a special award for innovation at the event.
The team created the interactive book Columbii after being challenged to create a product and run a business as part of the Young Enterprise competition.
The team, including Ellie Wright, Niles Butler and Henry Lapworth, achieved victory in various rounds at county and regional level, to be one of the top 14 in the country chosen to go through to the national final.
Headteacher Mr Christey said: "We are incredibly proud of these amazing and talented young people.
"Ellie, Henry and Niles have worked very hard to get as far as they did and they have set a shining example to the rest of the school, for other young people to follow.
"They have shown to younger pupils what can be achieved with hard work and dedication and have had the opportunity to share their talent with the rest of the country. They all have very promising careers ahead of them. Well done! We are very proud of you all."

School will finish at 12.40pm on Friday 16th December 2016. The Spring term begins on Tuesday 3rd January 2017 at normal time.

Friday will be our annual Christmas Jumper Day where students can wear their Christmas jumpers to support a national charity. Please bring in £1 donations. If you do not have a Christmas jumper, try and make an ordinary one a little bit festive with a splash of tinsel! There is no need to wear school uniform, providing pupils are wearing a festive jumper. All money raised will be donated to Save the Children. If you have any questions, please speak to Mrs Gibbs.

Wishing parents, carers, pupils and staff a very Merry Christmas!

On 18th November 2016, King Edward VI High school hosted an Enrichment day. All years took part and helped to participate in these activities and events. For Year 7, they did the desert challenge (involved in using newspaper to build a shelter from the sun which had to fit in one person),creative croissants in origami (this involved  using paper to make it into a shape of a croissant) and self-portraits in art (this involved each group having a portrait divided into squares and each person was responsible for recreating one square using different textures and materials). Some of these challenges had prizes and rewards for the best. For Year 8, they were doing problem solving in both P.E and maths and designing products. For Year 9, they were learning about culture and countries in humanities and English. In Year 10, they chose what they wanted to do in work experience and working on their CVs. Finally, in Year 11, they were doing their Science controlled assessments for their GSCE’s. Most of these activities that took place helped students with leadership skills, teamwork ability and problem solving skills. We had interviewed students on what they were doing and if they enjoyed it or not. These interviews were with Evie Austin and Max Greensill; you can see these interviews on KEVI TV. All of the other students looked like they were enjoying themselves as we went around the school.

King Edward VI High School has launched a brand new app for smartphones and tablets called "My Ed". The My Ed app shows you up to date information about all aspects of your child’s school life. It allows you to view information and keep up to date with what’s going on in school; it allows you to view key information about your child’s school activity and send and receive FREE messages to and from school via your mobile device. It will be the easiest and best way to find out everything you need to know about your child's performance in school and to get access to some of the most important information. 

The app is free to download and can be accessed via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on Android devices. Headteacher, Mr Christey, has said "We are always looking at new ways to keep parents and carers informed about their child's performance in school and share their achievements. This new app will help us do that and will be a fast and efficient method of communication with parents and carers as well as being a source of useful and important information, so you will always be up-to-date with all the great and exciting things going on in school".

Macmillan Coffee Morning took place in the Food Technology rooms on Friday 30th September 2016. This was a fundraising event supported by Mrs Katabalwa, Mrs Essery and children of all years who helped supervise the event. There were many cakes that were made throughout the morning and visitors were able to eat these cakes through the day. Pupils did a raffle and they had many prizes and entries throughout the school. They raised a fantastic amount of over £600. There were three slot sessions that lasted an hour long. The Macmillan coffee morning happened all over Britain and the money that was raised will go to research into Cancer. Everybody who went had a fantastic time and really enjoyed themselves. Hopefully next year they can raise even more money.

​On Friday 30th September 2016, we will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning at King Edward VI High School.  We would like to invite both parents and pupils to attend our fundraising event and support us in helping this national charity.
 
We will be selling tickets at £2.50 and this will entitle you to a drink and a sweet treat to enjoy in our Food Studies department.  In addition, a Year 10 tutor group will be running a raffle and selling tickets to support the event.
 
If you would like to attend please complete the reply slip with your ticket money and send to the main office as soon as possible. Tickets will be issued to your son/daughter before the event. Please specify the time slot within which you would like to attend and we can ensure your child is able to be released from class to meet you on the morning.
 
If you are unable to attend but your child would like to come with a friend, they are more than welcome to buy tickets to join in too (parental attendance is not compulsory).

King Edward VI High School will be celebrating its love of literacy by organising some fun activities for Roald Dahl Day which takes place on 13th September. To coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of famous children's author, Roald Dahl, the English Department wish to invite all students with a love of reading to join them for a Dahl-icious time in the Library where there will be loads of fun activities and prizes to be won!

Come to the Library on Tuesday lunchtime to find out more and say a big HappyBirthday and thank you to the man who gave us The BFG, The Witches, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and much more!

King Edward VI High School is incredibly proud to celebrate with the students their outstanding achievements in their GCSE results. Over 30% of Students this year achieved A*-A grades and 78% of students achieved grade C and above.
Students doing particularly well include, Emily Acton 1A*, 4A’s and 5B’s, Steven Beardmore 3A*s, 4A’s, and 3B’s, Jack Pearce 3A*s, 1A and 6B’s, Conner Millington, 2A*s and 8’Bs. Twins Olivia and Juliet Rose achieved 19 A*-A’s and 1 B between them.
A rare and amazing set of 10 straight A*s was achieved by Emma Clark.
Jason Christey, Headteacher, commended the “excellent achievement of our talented students” and congratulates staff and students on their hard work and commitment throughout the year.
