9/11/2020 Virtual Parents' EveningsDue to Covid-19 Restrictions our parents evenings will be run virtually this year. How do I book an appointment? Appointments can be made as usual using the Parents Evening Booking System or navigate through the Menu > Login section of the school website. Parents and carers will be notified when the bookings are open for their child's year group. What technology do I need? Smartphones can be used for the video appointments, if you don’t have a smartphone with a front-facing camera you can use a laptop or computer with a webcam. It is recommended that you use a headset or earphones with a microphone to reduce echo. How do I access the meeting on the day? On the day of the evening, log into the Parents Evening Booking System or click the login link from the bottom of the email confirmation you will have received. Once logged in you will see a notice that you have an upcoming video appointment and under this the details of the event, along with a Join Video Appointments button. This will become available 60 minutes before your first appointment. Further details and help guides can be found below. How long is each appointment? Each appointment will last for 5 minutes, when a teacher joins a call you will see them in the main part of the screen - or hear them, if they have no camera (or have turned it off) - and you can start your discussion with them. You will also see the remaining time for the appointment counting down in the blue bar at the top of the screen. When the countdown in the blue bar stops the appointment time is over and the call will automatically end. Teachers have no ability to extend the appointment time and the calls do stop automatically after 5 minutes, if you delay starting a call it does not extend the duration for that appointment, the appointment will always end at the scheduled time. These are unusual times for us all but we hope that this alternative method of holding parents evenings allows teachers and parents to have valuable conversations about the students whilst keeping everyone safe.
